The southeastern end of St. George Island shows the classic profile of a Gulf coastal barrier island, with a seaside beach on the right (SE), windswept dunes in the center, a broad swale with freshwater species inbetween, shallow pine wetlands, and finally a low energy beach on the bayside(NE).
